You know, there are times in life where you can just say to yourself, I done realy good-like as a parent!
Today was one of those days. Over the weekend, I had taken my kids to Medieval Times and bought them both a light-up flashing sword. Now, I cautioned Honorable Boy 1 and Honorable 2 that they’re NOT indestructible…and if they smashed the swords against the floor, they’d probably break.
"Jeepers mom", they responded (in their cute little biggle minds), "I think I’ll gleefully ignore you!"
So this morning Honorable 2 came running to me and said, "Honorable Boy 1 broke his sword so I told him, that’s okay, you can use mine and I’ll use the broken one!"
????
Keep in mind HB2 is only 6 years old.
Talk about being generous! I complimented him left, right and upsidedown…and then realized that HB1 had accepted the offering as his due (HB1 has a wee bit of a Deity complex). So I explained to HB1 how lucky he was to have such a kind loving brother and how he should go out his way for him too.
I have to admit it – seeing my 6 year old be so considerate really made my day!

First, I would like to thank you for leaving a comment on my blog. Second, this post brought back memories when my kids were so much younger than they are today. Too bad blogs weren’t around in those days as it would have been a great way to record past memories.
In regards to your post, I think it’s great the way the younger shares with his older brother and hope that it will always be that way. Did HB1 realize his good fortune in having such a considerate brother.
I agree with you about recording memories! Alas, I had to point out to HB1 how lucky he was…and then he rose to the occasion. Alas, it’s not second nature for the dear boy yet, but I do have hopes…..
Thanks for stopping by!

I reckon that is one of the requirements of a parent, to shape our kids into resposible caring adults. I reckon yours are well on the way.
Thanks so much!
Barbara
I just love that you’re calling your kids HB1 and HB2
It have to admit that I found it very generous of your boy to give up his sword. I’m pretty sure I would not have done that when I was just 6 (but we probably didn’t have plastic light sabers back then)
Honorable Boy 1 and Honorable Boy 2! I figured it was appropriate given their Asian heritage.
