Master Niche

Morning!

This week I think I’ll write about a subject near and dear to my heart – that of mastering your niche and becoming an acknowledged subject matter expert.

One of the best ways to become known as a quality resource is to ensure your name and your site pop up where your customers will be…ideally sharing great information as well!

Wouldn’t you agree?

‘course you would! So I’ll bet your next question is,

"Jeepers Barb, how do I go about this?"

Excellent question indeed!  And I shall answer:

Comment intelligently at other blogs in your niche, making certain to offer a link directly BACK to your site.

It’s easy to find targeted blogs, of course – you can simply go to Google and search for

niche blog

ie

Well!  Once you find a great blog, you want to remember it by adding it to your Google Reader (or FeedReader or whatever else you use to track your subscriptions).  That way, you’ll always be alerted to whenever new posts are made…and you can visit the site again and again to share your knowledge.

Sounds smart, right?  Well guess what – I have one more nifty idea for you!

You can create folders or categories WITHIN your reader….so you can separate all the blogs you follow into specific themes/niches and more!

Isn’t that the ultimate of coolness?

Just think!  You might specialize in dog training….so  you can create the categories:

  • Small Breeds
  • Large Breeds
  • Clicker Training
  • TV Training
  • Raw Foods

and whenever you want to focus on a specific sub-niche…WHAM!  You have the sites already at your fingertips.

Nice, eh?  I follow several thousand blogs in scores of niches…and whenever I want to promote specific resources, I have dozens of places to which I can immediately turn.

It makes life much easier indeed!

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling

Great ideas Barb,
I have not used readers much. Most of my RSS feeds go to my email and I have a similar folder scheme that you mention. I should really get with it and use a reader that way my inbox would not be as full
