How To Make Money Online Without Direct Selling (long term too!)

You know something….I *hate* direct selling.

Actually, *hate* is too pleasant of a word.  My innate shyness and such makes the whole concept of going out and "selling" to be as appealing as "going out and trimming the White House lawn with a rusty butterknife during Hurricane Irene while being clad in concrete underware."

It's one reason why back in the glory days of 2004-2005, my mode of making money online was that of the Rich Hermit – build 100s of portal sites that were laden with delightfully high-converting affiliate links.  My gosh, those years when I broke the Google code (and ranked number one for things like 'mesothelioma lawyer' – heaven!.   You can see that site over here….wow, things certainly have changed, aye?)

It was during that time, I might add, that I discovered the zillions of ways one can embed affiliate links all about the known galaxy – in your site, in forum posts, in your signature, in your 404 pages, within your ebooks, in your RSS, overseeing your….

Get what I mean?  The mind *boggles* with what one can do with affiliate links.

But…what if you're not technical and don't want to make a website?

What if you simply want to work behind-the-scenes and make money that way?

It's definitely a viable way to work.

Here's one example that I see every now and then.  I'm on several recycling/wanted lists, and every now and then I'll see a request for "WANTED! iPad" or "WANTED!  Treadmill" or….you get what I mean.

Well, it's easy enough to shoot off an email to those people and point them in the direction of where their item can be found….using *your* affiliate link.

You see, the fact you're even on my site and reading this article…chances are, you know more about the Internet than the majority of general all-purpose surfers.

Most casual Internet users aren't even  aware of affiliate links!

So the above idea is one method of making money online.  What I like about it is it's solely email-based – I don't even have to have a conversation with the recipient!  (again, I'm quite shy, so removing the talking requirements is a Very Good Thing indeed).
