RIP Master Keet

Master KeetGood morning,

Today is a sad day in the Ling family.  Our treasured parakeet, Master Keet, died.

Now, it’s commonly thought that parakeets are ‘starter birdies’ or otherwise easily swapped about.  Nothing could be further from the truth!

Budgies have adorable personalities that really bloom if you allow them free access outside the cage and into your heart.

Master Keet was one of the 14 Twitter Budgies.  I had gotten him from a pet store two years ago; apparently he had flown free and was never claimed.  From the start, he ruled the Ling Flock; brave and fearless (not to mention insanely crazy) were his trademarks.  He’d often fly to me and perch on my head when I was working at the computer and occassionally bless me by pulling out various/sundry shiny hairs.  :)

Tech support on the way!

My kids adored Master Keet!  When he died this morning, we took him to the forest and laid him down deep in the woods.   I gave the eulogy, and the kids know that Master Keet has now traveled across the Rainbow Bridge  and is flocking with Avenahar, Snow, Sir Rowen and Nancy Weaver (parrot champion extraordinare who passed away in 2001).

Birdies and dogs and cats and other companion animals have a knack of working their way into your heart.  Take out some time today and give thanks for your furBabies or featheredBabies – they are truly a blessing in your life.

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling

It’s very hard losing a pet that you love so much.  Sorry about your loss.
