Sometimes, we play things the safe and easy way.

But sometimes…boldness instead should be embraced!

I learned that this morning via the following marketing conversation with Coby Wright, utterly brilliant marketer extraordinare.  (btw, if you get a chance, network with him on Skype and join his List Building Mastermind – great stuff is shared there!).

[6:14:08 AM] Barbara Ling: Well, here's my dilemma.  When I price things at anything resembling normalacy (ie, $9.97)
[6:14:20 AM] Barbara Ling: they don't sell as well as when I start them at $.97 and dimesale them up.
[6:14:31 AM] Barbara Ling: But when I start that low, there's no incentive for my affiliates to affiliize.
[6:14:42 AM] Barbara Ling: So!  Brilliant person that I am,I figured, I'd start it low and then promote to *my* list
[6:14:47 AM] Barbara Ling: so the price would rise
[6:14:59 AM] Barbara Ling: which worked okay except
[6:15:16 AM] Barbara Ling: my CyberMonday and Black Friday sold 200+ copies and hit the $9.97
[6:15:26 AM] Barbara Ling: my Max Your Hoilday Profits did only 111 sales
[6:15:41 AM] Barbara Ling: wihch true, is a lot nicer than the usual 30-50 I was seeing before!
[6:15:51 AM] Barbara Ling: Overall, I've made much more money doing things via a dimesale.
[6:15:58 AM] Barbara Ling: And I'm using that to build me lists too….
[6:16:15 AM] Barbara Ling: But I figure, well, you're Coby and you're godlike so you can give me all your wisdom!  🙂

[6:17:49 AM] Coby Wright: the last one I started at 7 and had it increase a penny or two every couple of sales
[6:18:06 AM] Barbara Ling: Oh!  So I was also thinking of changing the 75% commission to 50% commission but bumping up specific folk to 75% if they asked?

[6:18:13 AM] Coby Wright: I really like the dimesales becuase of the "scarcity" – I love teh "only x at this price"
[6:18:22 AM] Barbara Ling: Gosh I like that.  A penny.
[6:18:38 AM] Coby Wright: well, commission wise I always do 100% on front and 50 on back and somtimes will bump as high a 100 on back
[6:19:00 AM] Barbara Ling: I'm getting ready to release the DAilyWSOs of Nov, just finished that at 2:30am this moring, was planning on starting it at 97 cents and increasing a dime.
[6:19:31 AM] Coby Wright: For the WSO that is releasing today with Carrie it will start at 5 and go up a nickel each sale – so I hope to get a good jump start from my list to get it around 7 bucks or more

[6:26:48 AM] Coby Wright: and now as I see it being more and more dependent on affiliate traffic I have started sticking to 9am est and 3 pm est

So yes indeed, I'm going to try it.

At 4pm today, I'm going to launch my latest (the November version of DailyWSOs), price it $.97 and dimesale it up a penny each sale. 

Perhaps I'll add other urgency thingees too….but the results should be fascinating indeed.

Boldness.  Who knows what will work…unless you try it out?

Thus today, tell yourself that you're going to give yourself permission to be bold and daring.  You never know….just what profits might follow.
