How to prepare your family when delightful insanity strikes

Jul 12th, 2008 | By Barbara | Category: 2010 Economy, Make Money

Fun and insanityMorning!

The week, she be over!

And not a moment too soon, let me tell you.  :)

Not that I regret it, of course – I did accomplish the completion of:

  • A new blueprint (which I have yet to hyperlink in, as I was swept by a rather neat idea at 1am yesterday)

And …

  • I did mentally prepare a new series for a tutorial on how to use your blog to promote a cause or a person!

 And…

  • I did teach my kids more aspects on how to blog and they’re doing peachy!

And…

  • I designed brand new customer care sequences, graphics, affiliate copy, put into motion things that will be accomplished in the next few weeks!

And….

And I’m more fried than 29 McDonalds Chicken McNuggets.  :)

The good news is, the kids are beyond grateful that I laid off the intense Camp Ling activities for a good part, so they got in lots of creative work/fanfic writing/cartooning and the like.

The bad news is, this weekend will see me comatose for the most part.   But I have to admit – once I recover, everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) is ready to rock and roll!

Have you ever gone into insane work-mode?  If so, here some tips you should consider before flying without wings.

1.)  Tell your family ahead of time.  Proactive warning that you’ll soon be walking around mumbling to yourself, of course!  That’s what I need to do NEXT! is always a Good Thing.

2.)  Schedule family time.  Even if it’s only 10 minutes, buy a 7ft. tall plier and pry yourself away from the computer every few years to spend quality time with them.  Of course, when your kids tell you, Parent Dear, I still have 2 blog posts I need to write, do NOT say, oh wow, HEY!  WHAT A SUPER IDEA!  BYE!… steadfastly maintain your determination to spend time as a family (or possibly bring all of your computers next to one another so you can all, ahem, spend family time together on the computer as you write your blogs!  Yeah!  That’s the ticket!

3.)  Stock up on coffee.  Buy a Starbucks franchise to make things easier.

4.)  Tweet daily updates.  Nothing says "commiseration" like "Hang in there!" responses from your brave tweet of "Help!  My fingers refuse to stop typing!"  (your family IS following you on Twitter already, right?)

I’d write more, but my youngest has just run over to me and informed me that it’s cuddle time RIGHT NOW!  And I for one….certainly agree.  :)

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling

LOL Barbara – I love this tip – “Buy a starbucks franchise”.  I’d probably drink all the profits.

    Sorry……..
    Starbucks don’t sell franchises
There are lots of other coffee franchises around, though.
