Sometimes…our friends go thru hell.
But we're not aware of it.
And sometimes, our friends then choose to react really really…thoughtlessly.
Because their issues are drowning them.
But again, because we don't know….we choose to interpret *their* actions really negatively.
And that's just a big huge shame.
You see, unless there's *really* good communications with you and your friends, a lot of times, they'll keep things in. And that's okay, it's their right.
But you need to give yourself permission *not* to let yourself get drawn into hurt feelings and to take a look at the *bigger* picture.
I equate it to *refusing* to engage the zombies.
Can you tell I have a passel of kids at home? 🙂
It's like this. If you're trapped in a town that's being besieged by zombies, you're kinda sorta looking out for Number 1.
You're focused solely on yourself…and survival. Everything and everyone else…is secondary.
But…if you're on a plane, flying over that zombie-infested area, you're safe and sound and free to consider how the other people are faring.
Your friends who are going thru tough times, they're *in* that horrific town, fighting zombies…fighting for their lives, their sanity.
For whatever reason, they simply *cannot* look beyond their current stress and consider how their actions affect you.
They *cannot*. They're struggling to retain their own peace of mind.
But because you're unaware….it's tough to restrain yourself (it really is!) from being drawn into engaging the zombies yourself….and letting yourself get hurt from your friends' actions.
Not good at all.
Thus, tell yourself today that even if your friends hurt you, you'll give them the benefit of the doubt and realize they're probably fighting off zombies you cannot begin to comprehend.
And maybe, just maybe, after their issues quiet down….you can revisit them with your friend and try to re-vitalize the friendship.
Because when it comes right down to it, family and friends are what makes life golden.
But sometimes you have to be big enough to step away to realize it.
Grow strong,
Barbara Ling
