Insight - Balancing Work and Life
Ah, the
joys of earning a living while keeping sane!
When
work is great, quite often one's personal relationships are rather swimming
too. After all, a decrease of stress at the office enables people to park
their work problems when they're home relaxing.
When
corporate politics latches onto you with all the fervor of a blood-hungry
mosquito, then one's happy outlook often changes. What should be a relaxing
time at home can turn into a "hey, I can't take it out on my idiot
boss at the office...let's snap at my partner instead! After all, s/he
will understand!"
Obviously,
this can be fraught with really lousy consequences.
Let's take another scenario! what if (oh, let's think of a crazy example)
the economy develops more holes than swiss cheese and hundreds of thousands
of people are laid off and companies fall faster than an avalanche and
... you get the picture. Maybe add to that a partner who gets awfully confused
when it takes more than 6 months to land a new position. Then it is a weeeee
bit more difficult to maintain your Inner personal edge, eh?
Difficult,
but not impossible.
Stress
can be good - it can spur you to reassess your strengths, your abilities,
your weaknesses and more. Not properly channeled, however, stress can not
only ruin your health but also blunt your Inner Personal Edge to a dullness
surpassed only by unsalted, limp spagetti.
The
Inner Personal Edge will reveal to you not only tested stress-coping
techniques for the above, but also provide ideas that will let you take
that tension and use it to your advantage. You might already have that
negative energy within you...instead of letting it sap your strength and
sabotage your relationships, you can instead turn it around for positive
results.
