Insight - Revealing Relationships
When
your relationships are good, the sun shines and the birdies sing. When
they're bad, the hurricanes form and the Ice Age cometh. I don't know about
you, but I much prefer the sunny skies and smooth sailings of my relationships
that count.
I think
we run into trouble when we start putting too much value upon the relationships
that, in the end, are of little importance. Keeping up with the Joneses!
Smiling pleasantly with the co-workers who use backstabbing as a morning
teambuilding exercise!
You get
the picture.
Your
entire life is based upon relationships. There's the relationship you have
with your parents...the first thing that started to form your personality.
There's the relationship you have with your partner, with your children,
with your friends, with your bosses....with your pets (how many pet owners
retreat to their animals when problems get too overwhelming in life)!
The good
news is that you can control how important the relationships are to you.
Now, granted, that might be rather difficult to do sometimes, especially
if emotions are involved...but remember, nobody can make you feel a
certain way unless you buy into it.
When
you choose to interact with someone, you have to actively choose how important
that persons' feelings and opinions are to you. Are you in a relationship
because you need to validate your own worthiness? Is your emotional state
dependent upon how someone else acts?
Having
The Inner Personal Edge in any kind of relationship
means you both know your own personal value and can determine who is allowed
to affect your personal feelings. It frees you from having to worry what
the Joneses say, because you'll be secure enough in your own self-esteem.
Within its pages and CDROM, you'll see how to maximize the relations you
have to get what you want and, at the same time, meet the needs of the
people you care about.
